On February 15, 2017 U.S. EPA extended the comment periods on two proposed rules prohibiting the manufacturing (including importation), processing and distribution in commerce of trichloroethylene (TCE) for us in aerosol degreasing, spot cleaning in dry cleaning facilities, and in vapor decreasing. The first rule proposal, covering the use of TCE in dry cleaning facilities, was issued on December 16, 2016 (81 FR 91592) and its comment period is extended to March 16, 2017. The second proposal, covering vapor degreasing, was issued on January 19, 2017 (82 FR 7432) and its comment period is delayed to April 19, 2017. U.S. EPA Withdraws Direct Final Rule on Revisions to Procedure 2- Quality Assurance Requirements for PM CEMS On February 15, 2017 the U.S. EPA withdrew its direct final rule published on November 21, 2016 (81 FR 83160). This rule would have revised Procedure 2 of the Quality Assurance Requirements for Particulate Matter Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems at Stationary Sources. The reason for this withdrawal, per EPA, was due to the receipt of an adverse comment.
